Sydney Children’s Hospital
The Sydney Children’s Hospital project is a complex, multi-level health-sector development in Randwick, NSW, delivered under a $6 million contract for John Holland and completed in 2025. Landscape and civil works spanned nine levels from Basement 1 to Level 8, requiring careful coordination and innovative construction methods within a live hospital environment.
The works included over 1,200 linear metres of corten steel walling and 31 architecturally designed arbors with integrated trellis systems spanning the basement entry ramp. Extensive fencing and gate systems were installed to meet security and operational requirements, while more than 25,000 plants and trees were established across multiple levels.
Over 3,000 square metres of soil was placed using bulka bag and soil blowing techniques to suit constrained and elevated areas. The project also delivered a purpose-built children’s play space featuring sandstone boulder walls, wet-pour rubber surfacing, and exposed concrete pavements. The completed landscape supports wellbeing, play, and healing within a demanding hospital setting.
