Carrawood Park
Leathwood was engaged to deliver the first of nine parks under the NSW Government’s ‘Parks for People’ initiative. This project transformed an unused floodplain into an inclusive, all-abilities playground and park for Fairfield Council. The works began with extensive site clearing and preparation, followed by the installation of a unique play space designed to encourage active and sensory play.
The centrepiece of the park is the striking ‘Big Bass’ multi-play structure, standing six metres high and spanning 25 metres in length. This was complemented by a custom-designed water play area, swings, and a natural play zone with a sandpit. Additional works included constructing pathways with concrete and gold deco granite, installing custom shade structures, and completing softscape works with native plantings and turf. The result is a vibrant, accessible community space that fosters recreation and outdoor engagement.
